Israeli attack in Rafah kills 27 Palestinians at aid site; UN calls for investigation

GAZA: In a devastating incident in southern Gaza’s Rafah governorate, at least 27 Palestinians were killed and dozens injured when Israeli forces targeted an aid distribution site operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), Gaza Health Ministry.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned the incident and called for an independent investigation into the ongoing reports of mass shootings at aid locations across Gaza since May 27, when GHF began its operations.

Israeli military officials confirmed that, three soldiers were killed in northern Gaza’s Jabalia area, in what they described as the deadliest attack on their forces since ending a ceasefire with Hamas in March.

The ongoing conflict has resulted in significant civilian casualties, with the Gaza Health Ministry reporting at least 54,381 Palestinians killed and 124,054 wounded since hostilities intensified.

The situation remains tense, with international calls for restraint and efforts to address the humanitarian crisis unfolding amidst ongoing violence.
