Islamabad: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, rubbished the opposition’s “campaign†on Pakistan making any default, he said the country would never default nor it ever defaulted any commitment.
Addressing a presser along with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other federal ministers, Ahsan Iqbal, Azam Nazeer Tarrar, Maryam Aurangzaib, the PM assistants on media and law Fahad Hussain, Atta Tarrarr, the Finance Minister said that “This is the climax of irresponsibility. There is no worry about the country’s default. We are managing it,†he remarked.
He told the media that the incumbent government inherited the economy with the inflation at its peak, devalued rupee, prices of eatables surged by 100% and medicines up to 400%.
He said the previous government did not only deviate from the commitments with the IMF but also laid a landmine for the new government.
“This is the climax of irresponsibility. There is no worry about the country’s default. We are managing it,†he remarked.
To a question, the finance minister said the dollar was being smuggled to a neighboring country and the government would crack down the smugglers of wheat and fertilizers.
