Iran’s participation in peace negotiations remains unconfirmed, says Information Minister

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Attaullah Tarar stated that Pakistan has yet to receive an official confirmation from Iran regarding their participation in the upcoming peace talks in Islamabad. 

On X (formerly Twitter), Tarar emphasized that “Pakistan, acting as the mediator, remains in ongoing communication with Iran and is actively engaged in diplomatic efforts to facilitate dialogue.”

A formal reply from Iran confirming the presence of a delegation at the Islamabad peace talks is still pending.  

Pakistan continues to maintain close contact with Iran and is committed to promoting diplomacy and peaceful resolution.

Tarar highlighted the importance of Iran’s decision before the expiry of the two-week ceasefire, which is scheduled to end at 4:50 am tomorrow morning. He stressed that Iran’s timely response to attend the negotiations is crucial in this regard.

The minister also reiterated Pakistan’s sincere endeavors to persuade Iranian leadership to participate in the second round of talks, and assured that diplomatic efforts are ongoing.
