TEHRAN: Iran has alleged that the United States is supporting Israel’s actions in the region, warning that any continued breach of ceasefire agreements could trigger a firm reaction from Tehran.
During a weekly media briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Iran has little confidence in either Washington or Tel Aviv, claiming that Israel’s recent military actions have taken place with American encouragement. According to him, Israeli policies in the region are closely aligned with those of the US.
Baghaei stressed that Iran remains committed to maintaining positive ties with neighboring states but criticized countries that, he alleged, have allowed their territory to be used for operations targeting Iran. He also reaffirmed Tehran’s support for the Palestinian people, accusing Israel of carrying out large-scale attacks in Gaza and expressing concern over what he described as the limited response from regional governments.
The spokesperson insisted that Iran has respected ceasefire commitments while accusing Israel of repeatedly violating them with US backing. He argued that these developments are part of a broader American strategy in the Middle East.
Commenting on Lebanon, Baghaei claimed that Israeli strikes have continued despite existing ceasefire arrangements and emphasized that all parties must fully comply with their obligations. He said Iran supports the complete implementation of ceasefire agreements and opposes any attempts to undermine them.
He further warned that Tehran would respond decisively to any future aggression and would not remain passive in the face of repeated violations.
On the nuclear front, Baghaei criticized International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi, accusing him of taking an unbalanced position toward Iran and suggesting that such an approach could damage the agency’s impartiality and credibility.
The Iranian official also alleged that Israel has been involved in several covert operations, saying these incidents have deepened Tehran’s mistrust. Referring to previous diplomatic engagement with the United States, he noted that negotiations had already been conducted under strained conditions and argued that recent developments have made the prospects for future dialogue even more uncertain.
