KARACHI: A bullish momentum was seen at the start of trading at the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Tuesday, with investors showing renewed confidence in the market.
During early trading hours, the benchmark KSE-100 Index surged by more than 1,000 points, climbing to 171,571 points. The upbeat opening came a day after the market closed lower on Monday, when the index shed 609 points to settle at 170,506.
Across the broader Asian region, stock markets displayed a mixed performance. Japan’s Nikkei 225 advanced close to one percent, while Thailand’s SET Index registered a gain of 0.40 percent. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index also moved slightly higher.
However, some regional markets remained under pressure. South Korea’s KOSPI dropped by 1.72 percent, Indonesia’s Jakarta Composite Index declined around one percent, and China’s Shanghai Composite Index slipped by 0.40 percent.
