NEW DELHI: To support Pakistan, India has served its ties Turkiye across various sectors including health, aviation, education, and trade.
The central government has canceled security clearance for the Turkish firm Celbi Security Services, which operates at major Indian airports, and calls for a boycott of Turkish airlines doing significant business in India are increasing.
Indian universities have also cut ties with Turkish institutions. Additionally, trade has been halted, including the sale of marble and apples from the country.
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, all diplomatic and educational relations with Turkey have been suspended. This decision was made in the context of Turkey’s unconditioned support for Pakistan during the India-Pakistan tensions.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs states that relations with countries questioning India’s sovereignty are subject to review as part of their policy.
It is noted that during the recent India-Pakistan conflict, Turkey strongly supported Pakistan, which was not well received by India and led to anger. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had stated, “We are always standing with you. The brotherhood between Turkey and Pakistan is very rare among nations.”
