ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked Junaid Akbar to resign as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC)
The directive, conveyed by Khan’s sister Aleema Khan to party leaders Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Salman Akram Raja, calls for Akbar to shift his focus entirely to party responsibilities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where he serves as PTI’s provincial president.
Senior PTI leader Omar Ayub is expected to replace Akbar in the PAC role.
Akbar has expressed his willingness to comply, stating he will resign “whenever Imran Khan instructs.”
PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja declined to comment, terming it an internal party matter.
The move follows mixed internal feedback on Akbar’s performance and comes amid PTI’s preparations for intensified political activity in the province.
