IHC Rejects Petition Seeking CJ SC Consultation Over Appointment Of Chairman NAB

Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday declaring a petition seeking consultation with Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) over an appointment of Chairman National Accountability Bureau as non-maintainable rejected it.

A petitioner counsel contended that SC orders were not fulfilled in the appointment of Chairman NAB adding that the SC amending section 6 said consultation with the CJ SC.

Despite passing of 20 years, section could not be amended regarding the appointment of Chairman NAB in the NAB ordinance, Hence, Ministry of Law be ordered for amending in the procedure of appointment of Chairman NAB and stop the appointment of Chairman NAB without consultation from Chief Justice Supreme Court Of Pakistan.

During the hearing, Chief Justice IHC, Athar Minallah said that the appointment of Chairman NAB is an authority of the parliament and this court can’t order the parliament.

The court declaring the petition non-maintainable for taking CJ SC on board regarding the appointment of Chairman NAB and rejected it.
