Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) Acting Chief Justice (CJ) Amir Farooq disposed off Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) petition against approval of further physical remand of its leader Dr Shahbaz Gill as the court pronounced reserved verdict.
The IHC has ordered the federal government and secretary interior to depute an inquiry officer over the matter of torture on Shahbaz Gill.
The court said that a retired judge be appointed as an inquiry officer.
A Superintentdant Of Police (SP) rank officer should supervise Dr Shahbaz Gill during his physical remand, the court added.
The court further instructed that the supervising officer ensure that no torture be meted out to the PTI leader.
