IHC lifts three objections to KP govt’s petition for meeting with PTI leader

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has dismissed three out of four objections raised by the Registrar’s Office concerning a petition filed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government. The petition seeks permission for Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Finance Adviser Muzammil Aslam to meet PTI founder Imran Khan for discussions related to the provincial budget.

Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro issued a formal order after Monday’s hearing, clarifying that three objections from the Registrar’s Office had been resolved. However, one objection related to the existence of similar pending cases remains under review.

The court observed that the Registrar’s Office had highlighted the presence of other petitions of a similar nature currently before the court. To clarify this matter, Justice Soomro instructed the Registrar’s Office to submit a comprehensive report at the next hearing, detailing the number of related cases pending in the Islamabad High Court.

“The Registrar’s Office is directed to provide a detailed account of such cases at the subsequent hearing,” the order specified.

The petition was filed by the KP Chief Minister and the province’s Finance Adviser, requesting permission to meet the incarcerated PTI leader to discuss budgetary issues.

Following these directives, the court adjourned further proceedings in the case until June 18.
