Islamabad: Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday quashed an FIR registered against Imran Mazari over her statement against the country’s institutions.
Chief Justice IHC Athar Minallah approved Imam Mazari plea against registration of the FIR for her disputed statement.
The court disposing of the case declare her bail petition non-maintainable.
During the hearing the CJ remarked that Iman Mazari has already expressed regret over her statement.
On which, Iman Mazari’s counsel Zainab Janjua said that we had on very first day said that there was no justification for the word spoken.
The CJ remarked that Imam Mazari being an officer of the court should not use such words. The CJ said that Iman Mazari has regretted and one should see what happened to her mother at that time.
Defense Ministry counsel said that Imam Mazari is just like our child but one should see her previous conduct as well.
Iman Mazari counsel said that we became part of the investigation despite having reservations over the court orders.
She said that we were recording statement to the police but they were writing something else, we said to police we would submit our written statement ourselves while Iman Mazari herself called police many times for submitting her written statement.
The court further added that the human rights activist has also assured that she would refrain from passing derogatory statements in the future.
“Imaan Mazari has apologized, what else do you want?†the CJP asked the defence ministry lawyer.
She should apologies for her statement in the press, the ministry’s lawyer said.
After the arguments concluded, the IHC CJ accepted Mazari’s plea of dismissing the case and quashed the FIR filed against her.
