LAHORE: A tragic incident in the Baghbanpura area near Sukh Nehr resulted in the deaths of nine individuals and injuries to three others when a house’s roof suddenly gave way, rescue officials reported.
Rescue teams rushed the injured to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care, and efforts to clear the debris are ongoing, officials added.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed her condolences over the casualties and instructed authorities to provide the best medical facilities to those injured.
In a separate event, heavy rains led to the collapse of a house in Faisalabad, claiming two young lives and injuring two more people.
This incident follows the recent tragedy in Lahore where 14 children lost their lives after a roofing structure at a tutoring center collapsed. The children, aged between 5 and 16, with most under nine, highlight the ongoing safety concerns related to unsafe construction in the region.
