Hammad Explains Gas Shortage Issue

ISLAMABAD: Hammad Azhar has said that gas companies will go bankrupt if they start giving imported gas to consumers. They are going to legislate on the gas issue.

Addressing a function in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar said that it has become a statement whether to buy LNG or not during the tenure of the present government, but the research proved that the LNG has nothing to do with a shortage of gas.

He said that in the past the issue of gas was not properly addressed. We have a nine percent reduction in gas every year. Local gas flow is reduced to 800 mmcfd. They are going to legislate on the issue of gas, they are going to legislate for the average price of domestic and imported gas.

Hammad Azhar said that unique style of virtual LNG terminals are going to be installed. These terminals will be able to supply gas to our customers through our gas pipelines. No large gas reserves have been discovered since 1950.
