DOHA: The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has officially appointed Khalil al-Hayya as its new chief.
According to reports from Arab media outlets, Hamas has confirmed that Dr. Khalil al-Hayya has been elected to lead the organization’s political bureau.
Hamas has indicated that Khalil al-Hayya will take over the responsibilities previously held by Yihya Sinwar.
He Born in Gaza in 1960, Khalil al-Hayya has been affiliated with Hamas since its inception in 1987.
He rose to greater prominence within the organization last year following the martyrdom of key Hamas figures, including Ismail Haniyeh, Yihya Sinwar, and military commander Muhammad Deif.
