ISLAMABAD: The federal government is preparing to launch its ambitious “Vision Pakistan 2047” programme on August 12, setting out a long-term strategy aimed at transforming Pakistan into a trillion-dollar economy, according to government sources.
The initiative will provide a comprehensive roadmap for economic growth, structural reforms and sustainable development, with a focus on transforming key sectors of the national economy over the coming decades.
Under the programme, the government also plans to create greater opportunities for the country’s youth by promoting innovation, skills development and sustainable economic participation.
Sources said the existing Uraan Pakistan Plan will be brought into line with the broader objectives of Vision Pakistan 2047 to ensure coordination between current development initiatives and the long-term national strategy.
The Prime Minister’s Office has asked ministries and government institutions to submit specific targets and proposals for inclusion in the programme.
The plans are expected to cover economic transformation, national development, human capital, technology, governance reforms and climate sustainability.
Ministries will also be required to outline proposed reforms, strategic objectives and long-term development priorities to help achieve the targets under the new vision.
According to sources at the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to formally inaugurate Vision Pakistan 2047 on August 12.
