ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced an increase in the prices of petroleum products, with the revised rates taking effect immediately for the upcoming week.
Under the latest revision, the price of petrol has been raised by Rs13.18 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs310.71 per litre. Meanwhile, high-speed diesel (HSD) has become Rs13.80 per litre more expensive, with its new price fixed at Rs323.30 per litre, according to an official notification.
The government stated that these revised fuel prices will remain in force throughout the next week.
Officials linked the increase to renewed tensions between the United States and Iran after a short-lived ceasefire, which has pushed international oil prices higher.
The announcement follows recent concerns raised by oil marketing companies and refineries over the government’s fuel pricing mechanism. The Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) warned that continued unilateral pricing decisions were placing significant financial strain on the petroleum sector and could affect fuel availability if the matter is not addressed.
