Govt extends NBP President Rehmat Ali Hasnie’s tenure by two weeks

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has granted a two-week extension to Rehmat Ali Hasnie as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), according to sources.

Hasnie’s previous term was due to expire on Thursday, while his fresh appointment will take effect from August 7, ensuring continuity until the selection process for a permanent president is completed.

Sources said the Ministry of Finance had already advertised the position, and shortlisted candidates are currently being considered for the top post at the state-owned bank.

The temporary extension is intended to ensure uninterrupted leadership at the National Bank of Pakistan while the government finalizes the appointment of its next president.
