ISLAMABAD: Acting President Syed Yousuf Raza Gillani visited the residence of Norway’s ambassador in Islamabad to express condolences over the death of King Harald V.
Upon his arrival, Gillani was received by senior officials of the Norwegian Embassy before signing the condolence book opened in memory of the late monarch.
The acting president conveyed his condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, as well as in his personal capacity, to King Haakon VIII, the Norwegian royal family and the people of Norway.
Gillani paid tribute to King Harald V’s decades-long service, saying the late monarch had led Norway with wisdom, dignity and dedication for more than 35 years.
He said King Harald’s long reign and commitment to his country would be remembered with deep respect.
Expressing solidarity with Norway during the period of mourning, the acting president said Pakistan’s thoughts and prayers were with the Norwegian royal family and people.
He also prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
