KARACHI: A fire at a garment factory warehouse in Karachi’s SITE Metroville area intensified, prompting an expanded firefighting operation, officials said.
The blaze broke out at a warehouse on the third floor of a garment factory situated at Plot No. 14-A in SITE Metroville, according to Chief Fire Officer Humayun Khan.
Four fire tenders and three Rescue 1122 vehicles are taking part in efforts to bring the fire under control. A snorkel vehicle from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s Fire Brigade has also reached the site, while two water bowsers are providing additional support.
Fire brigade officials said the same premises had witnessed another fire a few days earlier. They added that the factory’s third floor had been converted into a warehouse.
Firefighters are continuing their efforts to contain the blaze.
