Field Marshal Asim Munir arrives in Tehran on official visit: ISPR

RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir arrived in Tehran on Monday for an official visit to Iran as part of Pakistan’s continuing diplomatic efforts to promote peace and stability across the region, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni received the Chief of Defence Forces upon his arrival in the Iranian capital.

According to the ISPR, the visit is aimed at supporting Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives for achieving peace and stability in the region. Pakistan remains committed to pursuing a peaceful, sustainable and comprehensive resolution to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the military’s media wing said.

During his visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir will hold engagements focused on advancing diplomatic efforts for a peaceful resolution of the evolving regional situation.

The ISPR described the visit as an important part of Islamabad’s broader diplomatic outreach aimed at promoting lasting peace and regional stability.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is accompanying Field Marshal Asim Munir during the official visit, according to the military’s media wing.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation with Field Marshal Asim Munir, during which the two discussed the latest developments and the rapidly evolving situation in the region.

Iranian state media also reported that Araghchi separately spoke with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye to discuss regional developments.

During the conversations, the Iranian foreign minister said the United States should avoid any military adventurism, warning that Iran would respond decisively to any aggression by the US or Israel. He also cautioned that Tehran would respond firmly if any regional country took part in such aggression.
