WASHINGTON: US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel met with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi at the FBI Headquarters in Washington, where the two sides discussed enhancing cooperation in counterterrorism, cybercrime investigations and efforts to curb terrorist financing.
Following the meeting, Patel said in a post on X that it was a privilege to host the Pakistani interior minister and thanked Pakistan for its continued support in safeguarding US interests in the region.
He said both sides explored ways to strengthen collaboration through resource-sharing and specialised training in areas related to counterterrorism financing and cyber investigations, both domestically and internationally.
Calling the relationship between the FBI and Pakistan an important partnership, Patel expressed confidence that bilateral cooperation would continue to expand in the future.
“Our partnership is critical and we look forward to more success ahead,” he wrote on the social media platform.
Naqvi arrived in Washington last week after attending the United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit 2026 (UNCOPS), where law enforcement leaders from UN member states gathered to discuss closer international policing cooperation.
The meeting reflects ongoing efforts by Pakistan and the United States to deepen collaboration on security issues, including counterterrorism, intelligence sharing, cybersecurity and combating financial crimes.
Relations between Islamabad and Washington have shown renewed momentum in recent months. Pakistan, a major non-NATO ally of the United States, has continued to engage with the US on regional security matters since President Donald Trump’s return to office.
Pakistan has also played a diplomatic role in efforts aimed at easing tensions during the recent conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran.
