Islamabad:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says he is pleased to see that the country’s defence sector is catering to demands of modern technological era.
In a tweet on Tuesday, he said the ongoing IDEAS Defence Expo in Karachi highlights Pakistan’s growing footprint in the global defence market.

The Prime Minister said the expo’s theme ‘Arms for Peace’ reflects Pakistan’s desire for peace and stability.
Earlier in the morning the 11th edition of Defence Exhibition-IDEAS 2022 commenced at Expo Center in Karachi today which was inaugurated by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Federal Minister for Defence production Muhammad Israr Tareen, Sindh Chief Minster Syed Murad Ali Shah and high civil and military official are attending the inaugural ceremony.

The exhibition will continue till Friday November 18 in which around 300 exhibitors from 32 countries will display their latest and innovative products whereas over 500 from China, Turkey, North America, South America, Europe, and Asia national and international delegates are taking part in the exhibition.

Apart from the six halls of the expo centre, three marquees have also been set up, one of which has been named after Kashmir.

An Air Show will also be held on November 17 Thursday at Nishan-e-Pakistan on the Clifton beach for the citizens.
High-level defence delegations of friendly countries are also participating in the IDEAS-2022.
IDEAS is a defense exhibition that is held biennially. It is a venture of the Ministry of Defense Production, supported by the Pakistan Armed Forces, organized by the Defense Export Promotion Organization, and endorsed by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan.
Former President and Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General (r) Pervaiz Musharraf launched IDEAS, with its inaugural edition held in the year 2000.
IDEAS 2020 was not held due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The previous IDEAS was held in 2018. 45 countries participated in IDEAS 2018.
