Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Monday refuted news regarding receiving of summary by Prime Minister house sent by his ministry.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has called on Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif today.
The defence minister apprised that the process of an appointment of army chief has begun while he said that the appointment process for the new army chief will be concluded on November 25.
Talking to media after the meeting Khawaja Asif said that a summary containing names of the most senior generals will be sent to the prime minister house in a day or two.
He categorically said that what the media is running the story, it is not right.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided an important huddle at the prime minister house on an issue which has been under discussion in the opposition and government circles for two months.
The President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shahbaz Sharif has chaired a meeting to appoint a new army chief.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Law Minister Ayaz Saddiq, Interior Minister Rana Sana Ullah and others ministers are attending the meeting.
It is likely that progress will be made in this ongoing huddle.
As per the defence minister statement two days ago that the matter of an appointment of army chief will be concluded on Tuesday or Wednesday.
