Islamabad: A hearing of eight billion rupees suspicious transaction against former president Asif Ali Zardari was heard today while the court has reserved verdict on bail petition maintainability which will be announced shortly.
Counsel of former presidnet Farooq H Nayik said that he has filed bail petition in the case decide the petition first.
Farook H Nayik said that one can not be indicted in the reference adding that this is not the case after the NAB Amendment Ordinance.
He argued that there is no allegations of harming the national exchequer.To which, the NAB prosecutor said that if the court give us notice then we will respond on it.
Farooq Nayik said that this case is not of corruption or corrupt practice adding that there is no case of illegal use of power or taking illegal money.
He said that the court should issue notice to the NAB ask it for reply.He said that “you should provide justice to us not bulldoze our case.”.
He went on to say that the dubious transaction case worth Rs 8 billion is a private transaction which no longer falls under the purview of NAB.
Later on the basis of the NAB amendment ordinance Asif Zardari filed bail petition. On which, Judge Asghar Ali remarked that is bail petition of Asif Zardari is maintainable or not? we will give verdict shortly.
