LAHORE: The sixth anniversary of the legendary radio and television host Tariq Aziz was marked on Wednesday.
Born in Jalandhar on April 28, 1936, Tariq Aziz made a significant impact on Pakistan’s broadcasting industry. He began his career with Radio Pakistan in the 1960s, where he served as a host and became the country’s first male announcer and prominent television presenter.
Tariq Aziz gained widespread recognition for his long-running show on PTV, initially titled “Neelam Ghar,” which debuted in 1974. Over the years, he hosted various programs under the names “Tariq Aziz Show” and “Bazm-e-Tariq Aziz,” becoming a household name.
Apart from his television career, Aziz also appeared in several Pakistani films, including titles like, ‘Chiragh Kahan Roshni Kahan’ ‘Salgirah’ ‘Qasam Us Waqt Ki’ ‘Katar’ ‘Haar Gaya Insan’ and ‘Insaniyat’
In acknowledgment of his contributions to the arts and entertainment industry, he was honored with the Pride of Performance award in 1994.
Tariq Aziz passed away in Lahore at the age of 84 on this day in 2020, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire.
