ISLAMABAD: The federal government is expected to unveil a range of relief measures for salaried workers, farmers and the real estate sector in the 2026–27 federal budget, which Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb is set to present in the National Assembly today.
According to government sources, the proposed budget includes financial support for the agriculture sector through a subsidy on DAP fertiliser, along with measures aimed at lowering electricity costs for farmers. The initiatives are intended to reduce production expenses and boost agricultural output.
The agriculture relief package has reportedly been incorporated into the finance minister’s budget speech as part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen the farming community and enhance food production.
In a move likely to encourage clean energy investment, the government has also decided not to raise the sales tax on solar panels, maintaining existing tax rates to promote wider adoption of renewable energy technologies.
The salaried class is also expected to receive tax relief, with proposed reductions ranging between 4% and 7%, offering some financial ease amid persistent inflation and rising household expenses.
Meanwhile, the government plans to introduce incentives for the real estate and construction industries by reducing transaction taxes on property purchases and sales. Officials believe the measure will stimulate investment, revive housing market activity and support growth in the construction sector.
The proposed initiatives are expected to form part of the government’s broader economic strategy aimed at encouraging investment, easing financial pressure on key sectors and supporting overall economic recovery.
