Banned action committee’s armed elements disrupt life in Rawalakot

RAWALAKOT: The life of residents in Rawalakot and nearby areas in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has been severely affected by armed factions of the outlawed Action Committee.

The Poonch Division Administration’s spokesperson revealed that militants affiliated with the banned group have imposed blockades across all major roads in Rawalakot and local markets. These blockages have resulted in shortages of essential food supplies, as the militants have obstructed roads by felling trees and placing large rocks.

The administration’s spokesperson added that truck drivers are hesitant to transport food and other vital goods because militants are intimidating them and subjecting them to degrading treatment.

Efforts are underway by law enforcement agencies to restore normalcy. The Rawalakot administration announced that personnel have begun removing trees and debris from the Bagh–Rawalakot highway, which has now been cleared for traffic.

Furthermore, traders and transporters are now able to supply goods via the Kohala route, and efforts are ongoing to open other blocked routes as well.

Authorities are working to identify those responsible through video footage and are taking comprehensive actions against the individuals involved in facilitating these disruptions.

Law enforcement agencies have intensified their crackdown on illegal weapons, extortion, and road blockades orchestrated by the banned Action Committee, aiming to restore peace and stability in the region.
