DELHI: Zahid Rahman, an adviser to the Bangladeshi Prime Minister, was barred from entering India and was subjected to a two-and-a-half-hour interrogation at Delhi Airport.
According to Bangladeshi media, the full details of the incident are being gathered. Despite prior notification at the diplomatic level, Indian immigration authorities did not permit Zahid Rahman to enter the country. The incident has raised concerns, especially since prior approval had been granted.
Following intervention by senior Indian officials, Zahid Rahman was eventually allowed to enter India.
However, instead of proceeding with his planned visit, Zahid Rahman decided to return to Bangladesh. He left India via Colombo and headed back to Dhaka.
Bangladeshi media reports indicate that Zahid Rahman was in India to participate in the Hemispheric Rim Association (HRA) meeting.
