WEB DESK: Australia has announced sanctions against the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and three of its top officials. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade stated that the BLA has been involved in terrorist acts across Pakistan, targeting civilians, infrastructure, and government entities.
The move reflects Australia’s strong stance against terrorism and violent extremism. The sanctions are designed to cut off financial support that allows the group to operate, recruit, and propagate extremist views.
Australia confirmed it will collaborate with international partners to act against networks threatening regional and global security. Possessing, transferring, or funding the designated terrorists and groups will be illegal under Australian law, with penalties including hefty fines and up to a decade in prison.
The Australian government highlighted that these measures are part of its broader effort to promote international peace and security.
