RAWALPINDI: Australia has awarded Pakistani Army cadet Sardar Arsam Abbas the title of “Overall Best Foreign Military Cadet” at the graduation ceremony held at the Royal Military College Duntroon in Canberra on May 5, 2026, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations.
The distinction is granted to the top-performing international cadet, recognizing excellence across all aspects of military training. ISPR described the achievement as a reflection of the Pakistan
Army’s commitment to professionalism, discipline, and leadership development.
The passing-out parade was reviewed by Simon Stuart, Chief of the Australian Army, and attended by senior defense officials, diplomats, families of cadets, and Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Australia.
ISPR highlighted the longstanding defense ties between Pakistan and Australia. Since 2009, 46 Pakistani cadets have graduated from RMC Duntroon, while seven Pakistan Army officers have served as platoon commanders at the academy since 2013.
This latest recognition marks the 14th time a Pakistani cadet has received the top foreign cadet honor. Among previous recipients was Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Khalid Selhria, who was martyred in 2020 in North Waziristan and awarded the Tamgha-e-Basalat for bravery.
His name remains engraved on the memorial at the RMC parade ground, symbolizing the enduring legacy of sacrifice, courage, and service associated with Pakistani Army officers, ISPR added.
