Islamabad: An anti terrorism court of Islamabad has extended the interim bail of former premier Imran Khan till September 20 in the case against him over threatening to woman judicial magistrate, Zeba Chaudhry in his party public gathering last month.
Raja Jawad Abbass of the atc Islamabad heard an interim bail petition of the PTI chairman Imran Khan over giving threats to judicial magistrate Zeba Chaudhry.
The ex-premier Imran Khan appeared before the court while the PTI chairman counsel Baber Awan argued that the written statements given by his client was not brought to record.
He said that lodging of a case against the police official applicable over not making the statement part of the investigation adding that Imran Khan has submitted statement more then once.
Baber Awan qestioned that where has written in the section 161 that the accused be called in a police station.
Prosecutor Raja Rizwan Abbassi said that the Joint Invetigation Team had sent three notices but Imran Khan didn’t make part of the investigation adding that the JIT or IO of the case has to decide what will be the procedure of the investigation.
Baber Awan asked why a condition of appearing before the court is being imposed? the atc judge said that you are allowed wherever you like to become part of the investatigation, whether a bar room any other venue you can get recorded statement, we are not issuing any order and instruction in this regard
The court extending the interim bail of Imran Khan adjourned the hearing till September 20.
Earlier, Chairman PTI Imran Khan reached an anti terrorism court (atc) strict security arrangements.
The ATC judge questioned an investigation officer (IO) has ex-premier included in the investigation? to which the IO apprised the court that he has not included in the investigation adding that he has sent a written statement only.
The judge remarked that a statement is only requirement in the case and what other things you wanted to recover while the judge again questioned the IO did you make Imran Khan statement part of the caseThe IO responded that he didn’t make statement part of the case.
Over which the judge of the ATC expressed his anger on the IO and said that not making the statement part of the case showed your malpractice, has you kept the statement as a gift.
Counsel of Imran Khan Baber Awan said that if the police wanted to investigate his client then surely investigate him in a bar room of the judicial complex.
The court remarked that saying if the police wanted to investigate ex-premier then they go ahead to hold inquiry in the judicial complex.
The court ordered that the PTI chairman be appeared in the court and respondents give their arguments today then the court took a break.
After the break ex-premier Imran Khan appeared before the court in the strict security arrangements.
