Approaching Intra-Court Appeal Only Solution For IHC Verdict On LG Polls In Capital: ECP

Islamabad: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided there is no solution except to approach an intra-court appeal against the Islamabad High Court (IHC) today’s verdict to hold local bodies elections in Islamabad tomorrow (Saturday).

An ECP meeting was held in chair of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja after the IHC verdict today for holding local bodies election in the capital tomorrow (Saturday).

The ECP in its meeting said that in a brief period of time the ECP is unbale to conduct arrangments adding that the election staff are also outside the city owing to winter vaccations in schools and Saturday, Sunday weekly off days.

The elction body said that the transportation of the election material at the polling stations at late night not possible as well. in the schools.

The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja has contacted to Attorney General to hold consultations over the situation.
