Apple unveils M6 MacBook Pro, iMac, Highlighting On-Device AI

WEB DESK: Apple has introduced a 14-inch MacBook Pro and a new iMac powered by its M6 chip, emphasizing improved performance for AI tasks processed directly on the devices.

The MacBook Pro starts at $1,999 and the iMac at $1,499. Pre-orders open Wednesday in 35 countries and regions, including the United States, with both products set to arrive November 6.

Apple says the M6 MacBook Pro offers up to 30% faster graphics and up to 25% faster AI performance than the M5 model, with battery life of up to 24 hours. The company says the new iMac delivers up to five times the on-device AI performance of its M4 predecessor.

The announcement comes a day before Apple’s “Pro and tell” event in Los Angeles, where Bloomberg News has reported the company may show its first touchscreen MacBook Pro.
