Annual Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Begins

BHITSHAH: The celebrations of the 278th anniversary of the great Sufi saint and poet of Sindh Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai have started in Bhitshah from today.

Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Fayyaz Butt and Secretary Endowments Muhammad Bakhsh Mehr laid a chador on the shrine and officially started the three-day Urs celebrations.

Provincial advisor Fayyaz Butt also distributed clothes among the poor women and listened to the Shah’s speech from the sufi singers. Officially, all Urs celebrations have been canceled due to corona, but the Sindh Culture Department will simply hold three-day celebrations.

A heavy contingent of police has been deployed on entry and exit routes on the occasion of Urs. Due to the ban on entry of vehicles around the shrine, a large number of devotees are entering the shrine on foot.
