WEB DESK: American Professor Christine Fair has publicly criticized the Indian government, stating that India has failed to intimidate Pakistan despite its efforts.
During a televised Indian program, she explained that deterrence is gauged by a country’s behaviour toward those it seeks to contain, and in the current circumstances, there is no evidence that Pakistan has shifted its stance or retreated from its position.
Professor Fair asserted that India has jeopardized itself by making unfounded claims, and Indian media has been providing misinformation to the public.
She emphasized that, India has neither succeeded in defeating Pakistan nor has it managed to intimidate it. Pakistan remains firm and unyielding.
She also noted that, the conflict has escalated much faster than India anticipated, with the Indian government and media adopting a belligerent stance.
Furthermore, Professor Fair stated that India itself initially wanted to find a safe way to de-escalate the tensions. However, the uncontrolled Indian media has created public expectations that ultimately lead to military demands.
She concluded that the aggressive attitude of Indian media and government poses a serious threat to regional peace and stability.
