Afghan Taliban face backlash on social media as false propaganda exposed

WEB DESK: The Afghan Taliban are facing scrutiny online after claims surfaced alleging the downing of a Pakistani military aircraft amid recent cross-border tensions.

Officials stated that Pakistan’s response followed what they described as unprovoked aggression, after which disputed images began circulating widely on social media platforms.

According to a report by BBC, the viral posts feature photographs purportedly showing the wreckage of a Pakistani jet shot down during the latest escalation. However, the broadcaster noted that the images are not linked to the current situation.

Fact-checking assessments indicate that the photographs actually date back to 2025 and show debris from a training aircraft incident unrelated to the present standoff between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Security observers suggest that the recycled images may have been shared to shape public perception during a period of heightened tensions. Analysts emphasized that there is no verified connection between the aircraft shown in the images and the recent developments along the border.
