Acting President okays transfers of 3 IHC Judges

ISLAMABAD: Acting President Yousaf Raza Gilani has given the go-ahead for the reassignment of three judges from the Islamabad High Court. The Ministry of Law and Justice has officially issued a notification to formalize the transfers.

As per the notification, Senior Judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani will now serve at the Lahore High Court. Justice Babar Sattar has been reassigned to the Peshawar High Court, while Justice Saman Rafat Imtiaz will serve at the Sindh High Court.

These transfers follow a recent decision made by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan earlier this week, which approved the move with a majority vote. The commission’s meeting was chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi.

Sources indicate that nine members of the commission supported the transfers, whereas four members opposed, highlighting some division within the body over the decision.
