RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces killed 32 militants during intelligence-based operations carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan over the past 24 hours, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the military’s media wing said coordinated operations were launched in both provinces to target militants and their facilitators. The operations focused on dismantling networks identified by the military as Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan.
The ISPR said that on the night of July 28–29, multiple intelligence-led search and clearance operations were conducted in Khyber district, where security forces engaged militant hideouts and killed 24 militants linked to Fitna al-Khawarij.
In a separate operation in Nushki district, Balochistan, security personnel eliminated eight militants associated with Fitna al-Hindustan following an intense exchange of fire.
During the operations, troops recovered and destroyed a cache of weapons, ammunition, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) allegedly used by the militants.
The military added that follow-up sanitisation operations remain underway to clear the affected areas and ensure no militants remain at large.
Meanwhile, a recent report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) identified Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan as the country’s most violence-affected regions during the second quarter of 2026. Together, the two provinces accounted for nearly 96% of all conflict-related deaths, with KP recording 475 fatalities (61%) and Balochistan 265 fatalities (34%).
The report also noted that KP witnessed 151 violent incidents, the highest in the country during the quarter, while Balochistan recorded 94 incidents, making the two provinces the primary hotspots of militant violence.
